We are proud to announce that Professor Roberto Sorrentino, the founder of president of RF Microtech, has been appointed as High Official of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy, for his commitment in the field of research and development. The prestigious award was bestowed by the Italian Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, upon proposal of President of the Council Giuseppe Conte.
Before founding RF Microtech company, Professor Sorrentino was full Professor of Electromagnetic fields at the Perugia University, in which he has been the Dean of Engineering Faculty. He has devoted his research activity to electromagnetism and to its different applications in Telecommunication Systems and Industrial Sensors.
He was one of the founders and first president of European Microwave Association and of the Italian Society of Electromagnetism. During its activity he received numerous international acknowledgements, such as: the title of Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1990, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal in 2000 and in 2005 the Microwave Career Award of IEEE (the only Italian to receive this award).
In 2007, together with a group of young engineers (his former students) Professor Sorrentino founded RF Microtech, that now leads with excellent results.
