RF Microtech celebrates 10 years of Excellence

on 28 Sep 2017 in News | 0 comments

RF Microtech was founded on the 17th September 2007 as a spin-off company of the University of Perugia. The spirit of free research, typical of university, has been conserved so as to spur innovation, wide spectrum of competences and enthusiasm. As a result of the strong motivation of its researchers and the hard team work carried out in these years, the Company has constantly and significantly grown since its foundation. It now employs 16 people (in addition to Prof. Sorrentino), 15 of which are highly qualified engineers with Master or PhD degrees. In 2017 the company has moved to new larger premises, an 800m2 building located in a 2000 sqm estate. A new and well-equipped laboratory for the assembly of phased array antennas has been set up, along with measurement facilities up to 67GHz for antenna and microwave equipment. In the next months, the acquisition of new equipment for small production, testing and prototyping of antenna and microwave component is...

20èmes Journées Nationales Micro-Ondes

on 1 May 2017 in News | 0 comments

The twentieth National Microwave Day, on the 16th-19th  May 2017 in Saint- Malo Registration Deadline on the 5ft May 2017 The National Microwave Day takes place every two years, gathering the French community of microwave, working on a wide range of fields, from components, passive and active microwave circuits to communication system and radars. This Congress is also open to scientists from all over the world, whom would like to present their works in French. The conference is an excellent opportunity that allows PhD Students to show their works. An industrial exposition will be also organized during all the last of the conference. It will take place in the poster session area, so to allow the exhibitors to show their products and services to all the community. On the 16th May, the previous day of the conference, an entire day will be dedicated to the theme of millimeter wave hardware and their different fields of application and issuing about the electromagnetic modelling of antennas. After the last NMD Conference held in Saint-Malo in 1997, the organizing committee will be waiting for you as many as possible at “Palais du Grand Large de Saint-Malo”. RF Microtech will be present at the exhibition and represent “IHP Microelectronics GmbH”.  Meet us at the IHP stand at the conference...

RF Microtech Develops Complex UWB Filter In Record Time

on 19 Apr 2017 in News | 0 comments

Another success story for RF Microtech. A great achievement for the company, whose outcomes in projecting Complex UWB Filter have been published by AWRCORP, but also exalted on the Microwave Journal (see the links below) The Design Challenge Expo Milano 2015 was a universal exposition that hosted over five thousand events in six months. The organizers had contracted with several mobile service providers to deploy stations throughout the expo area to provide complete mobile service coverage for the event. In addition, Italian government security services relied on mobile base stations strategically placed throughout the expo to ensure communications for the event, including the public safety network. However, the lobe of one of the mobile service antennas directly interfered with the communication signals of a critical security control base station and the issue had to be resolved immediately as the expo was opening in less than a month. RF Microtech was asked to provide a validated full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation of a 2-port ultra-wideband (UWB) filter that could reject all five mobile service bands with greater than 35 dB of rejection. Furthermore, the filter had to ensure 80 MHz to 6 GHz wide-band transmission with insertion losses less than 2 dB RF Microtech’s client, H3G, also required that the device fit within a 1x1x0.2 meter enclosure, while still providing acceptable levels of coexistence to 6 GHz without signal degradation. The validated EM simulation had to be delivered within two weeks and the complete deployable device by the time the expo opened. The Solution “We chose Microwave Office because it could easily and quickly optimize the cascade of a series of full-wave component blocks of a very large and complex UWB filter structure. Using Microwave Office, we were able to reduce optimization and development time by 90 percent, a critical factor in delivering this project in a very short timeframe.”stated Roberto Sorrentino Honorary President of RF Microtech The RF Microtech design team immediately went to work developing a circuit model of five independent notched-band filters (NBFs) cascaded along a transmission line. The team chose NI AWR Design Environment, specifically Microwave Office circuit design software, for this time-critical project. Each independent filter was designed as a 4th or 5th order NBF, composed...

EuMW 2015 Career Platform

on 1 Sep 2015 in News | 0 comments

EuMW 2015 continues the “Career Platform” initiative launched in 2013 in Nuremberg, to foster the dynamic between young researchers, engineers and the job market in the field of microwaves. A dedicated area will be reserved to foster sharing and exchange. Special sessions will also be organized on the industrial market analysis and its career development and recruitment strategies. EuMW 2015 will also launch a unique e-Platform initiative with the ambition to offer to the RF and Microwave community a job portal at the European scale. RF Microtech will be presenting New applications of microwaves and new jobs in the Special Session 2 (Thursday  September 10th, 4:10-5:50 PM, Level 2, room 253) open to all delegates and Exhibition Visitors (free registration).
