The Radio Frequency Equipment and Technology Section (TEC-EFE) of the Radio Frequency Payloads and Technology Division (Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality at ESA-ESTEC) in collaboration with the COMETs (COMmunities of ExperTs) of Centre National D’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) is organising a new edition of the Microwave Technology and Techniques Workshop.   RF Microtech will be gold sponsor of the event and will present its latest developments on “High Performance Microwave Filters for Space….in the Smallest Space!” With respect to standard technologies, the miniaturized RF Microtech filters and diplexers ensure a drastic reduction of dimensions and weight, typically more than 50%, while maintaining high performance and high power handling capability. RF Microtech developing High Power Multiplexers in the framework of a new ESA contract

RF Microtech has been awarded a new ESA ARTES AT project entitled DOMUK – Dielectric-loaded high-power Output de-MUltiplexer at Ku/Ka-band. The project goal is the development of 250 W-class, Ku-band and Ka-band two-channel output de-multiplexers with 240-250 MHz channel bandwidth and 30% footprint reduction with respect to the state of the art. Engineering Models (EM) will be designed, manufactured and tested in relevant environment. RF Microtech is the project main proponent and prime contractor, confirming again its highly professional predisposition for innovative component developing in the space field. A new H2020 project for next generation wireless systems

Starting from January 2019, RF Microtech is involved in a new H2020 project called NANOSMART – NANO components for electronic SMART wireless systems. Led by Thales SAS (France), the project will be conducted in collaboration with ten of the most advanced European Industries, SMEs and Research Institutes involved in the field of nano-component and smart system development. The final objective of NANOSMART project is to develop smart monolithic Tx/Rx front-ends capable of RF switching, power management and high efficiency at low cost and footprint. NANOSMART responds to these needs by developing a new technological platform based on CNT and 2D material electronics that are the two most promising technologies to replace silicon electronics in the future. RF Microtech is responsible of the “System Integration and Tests” Work Package and leads the development of one of the two demonstrators, namely a 24 GHz Tx/Rx smart module for IoT applications. RF Microtech at ESA SatCom Final Presentation Days

RF Microtech has successfully concluded two ESA ARTES projects, namely Mignon – Microwave Micromachining Filters and COMFIL- Compact C/Ku Broadband Waveguide Filters,which will be presented at the ESA SatCom Final Presentation Days Based on different technologies, the two projects led to the creation of highly innovative miniaturized filters for space on-board applications. The MIGNON Filters have been produced in Ka-band by combining multilayer and micromachining technologies. Besides being SMT  (Surface Mount Technology) compatible, such filters have the advantages of having a light mass and a very small footprint. In the framework of COMFIL project, novel filters in C- and Ku-bands have been developed, based on the combination of TM dual mode resonators and combline resonators in waveguide technology. This approach ensures low loss, high compactness and wide spurious-free stop-bands. Both presentations will be given on Wednesday 30th January 2019 in ESA/ESTEC....

Starting from February 2019, the European Microwave Association (EuMA) Young Professional Team is launching the “EuMA Internship Award“. Every year seven awards of 3.000€ each will be given to selected Master and PhD students to spend a period of at least 3 months abroad in one of the leading European Microwave Industries, Universities, and Research Institutes supporting this initiative. RF Microtech is one of the microwave company that will host the awarded students.
